Samuel O. Afubwa, Master of Occupational Health and Safety (Curtin), PHO/EHO
The author has a wealth of background in Environmental Health acquired from 1982 to date. He
has worked in various capacities in the field on environmental health in Kenya-Ministry of Health. He has an ILO-OSH Diploma acquired in Italy in 1991 and Master of Occupational Health & Safety from Curtin University (Australia). He has been an active member of Association of Public Health Officers Kenya (APHOK), Kenya Health Professional Society (KHPS) and co-founder of Federation of Environmental Health in East Africa. He has taught at Kenyatta University and is currently teaching at African Medical Research and Foundation (AMREF), Great Lakes University of Kisumu (GLUK). He is a Principal Lecturer at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) where he has been teaching since 1987. He has been conducting OHS auditing and training in industries. He is the Secretary to Comprehensive Environmental Health Management Solutions - International (COHEMAS).
The author has written articles in African Newsletter of OHS, and was a contributor on OHS details
in the Environmental Health for East Africa by Rukunga, 2001, published by AMREF.

Professor Mutuku A.Mwanthi is an Associate Professor of Community HealthSciences/Public
Health at the School of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi.
Prof. Mwanthi holds a PhD in Community Health Sciences with a major in Environmental &
Occupational Health and Safety from School of Public Health, The University of Texas, Health Science Center at Houston, Texas, USA. He also holds a MSEH (MSc) degree in Environmental Health from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee, USA as well as a BSc. with amajor in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Washburn University of Topeka, Kansas, USA. Prof. Mwanthi is the current Head of Disease Prevention, Control and Health Promotion Unit. His teaching, research and consultancy focuses on the areas of his expertise.Prof. Mwanthih as authored and co-authored more than 60 publications in peer reviewed journals. In addition, he has presented several papers in local and international conferences.
Prof. Mwanthi has served as an external examiner in more than10 universities in Kenya and a few
in African countries and continues to serve in that capacity to more than five regional and local universities. He has supervised theses/dissertations for more than 80mastersstudents and more than 8 doctoral students. Prof. Mwanthi serves as the School of Public Health and country's focal person for the One Health Central and Eastern Africa(OHCEA) network.
